A proposal to change the way Michigan state park fees are paid could end up being the best of both worlds: It could save money for the people who use the parks, and bring in an additional $47 million to help maintain and improve the facilities.

As beautiful as they are, though, the state’s parks and recreation areas are badly in need of maintenance and renovation.

We hope it’s adopted, and we urge Livingston County’s lawmakers to throw their support behind it, as well.
